WHAT IS IT? Sound Therapy refers to a large range of therapies where sound is used to treat a variety of illnesses. Sound therapy ceremonies are ancient practices, and records show that drumming, dancing, hand-clapping and singing were most commonly used. For example, Australian Aborigines used didgeridoos for sound healing more than 40,000 years ago, and Tibetans used singing bowls in their spiritual ceremonies over 6000 years ago.

During some treatments you may be encouraged to play a musical instrument, participate in moving and singing, or just lie down, be quiet and feel the sound travel through your body.

Some of the more common Sound Therapies used today are drumming, crystal singing bowl, chanting, flute playing and harp playing.
